Lumen is now on YouTube Playables
Lumen: Light & Mirrors is now a YouTube Playable. YouTube reviewed it and accepted it. You can open it right inside YouTube, on your phone or on a computer, and start the first puzzle in a few seconds. It is free, and there is nothing to install.
The same puzzle, one tap from a video
Playables are games that run inside YouTube. You find them in the Playables section of the YouTube app and on youtube.com, next to the videos you already watch. Lumen there is the game you know from the browser and the apps. Place a mirror, turn it, and guide the light to the crystal. Collect coins on the way, and spend them on a hint when you are stuck.
Every building is open on YouTube, just as in the browser. You climb from the optics workshop as far as your puzzles take you.
What is different on YouTube
- Your progress stays with YouTube. The game saves to your YouTube account, so you can come back to the same room later.
- YouTube controls the sound. Calm music plays on the menus, and the board has only the quiet sounds of mirrors and coins. Mute and pause belong to YouTube, so the game has no sound switches of its own there.
- A pause really pauses. In the rooms where the light burns down, the clock stops whenever YouTube pauses the game. You will not come back to a dark board.
- Now and then, a short ad. YouTube may show an ad between levels. Never in the middle of a puzzle. The browser game and the apps have no ads.
Lumen follows your YouTube language when it can. English, Polish, Ukrainian and Russian are in.
Built once, shipped four ways
Lumen is one TypeScript codebase. The same screens and the same light-path logic become the browser game, the iPhone and iPad app, the Android app and now the YouTube build. For YouTube we wrap the game in a small shell that talks to the Playables SDK: it says when the first frame is ready, saves progress to the cloud, and holds the music, the sounds and the clock while YouTube has the game paused. If you are thinking about a game for Playables, this is the kind of work we do.
Find your first path. Play on YouTube, play in your browser, or see the game and the apps.
