Barcode Info — Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 9, 2026

The short version: Barcode Info collects no personal data whatsoever. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics, and no tracking. Barcodes are recognized entirely on your device, and your scan history is stored only there — it never leaves your phone.

Who we are

Barcode Info (the “App”) is a barcode scanner that identifies barcode types, verifies product-code check digits, and shows where a barcode was registered — all offline. It is developed and published by Eximsol Sp. z o.o. (operating as UpFlyDev). This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles information. It applies to the Barcode Info App on Apple’s App Store and Google Play.

Information we collect

We do not collect any personal information. The App does not ask for, gather, or transmit names, email addresses, phone numbers, location, contacts, photos, device identifiers, or any other personal data.

The App has no user accounts and no login. You can use every part of the App without providing any information about yourself.

Camera access

The App asks for camera permission for one purpose only: detecting barcodes in real time. Camera frames are analyzed on your device as you point it at a code. In particular:

  • the single frame in which a barcode was detected is saved as a photo attached to that scan, on your device only (see the next section); no other photos and no videos are ever recorded;
  • camera images are never uploaded by the App — recognition runs entirely locally, and the App sends nothing anywhere;
  • you can revoke camera access at any time in your device settings; the App remains usable for browsing your existing scan history.

Data stored on your device

To keep a history of what you scanned, the App saves each scan — the barcode’s value, its type, the date and time of the scan, and a photo of the camera frame the code was detected in — locally on your device only, using the standard storage provided by the operating system. This information:

  • never leaves your device on its own;
  • is not transmitted to us or to anyone else;
  • can be deleted at any time, record by record or all at once, right in the App — deleting a scan also deletes its photo, and a photo can be deleted on its own while the scan is kept; and
  • is removed if you delete the App.

The one exception is entirely in your hands: the App offers a Share button, which hands the scan and its photo to your device's standard share sheet. Whatever you send, and to whom, is your choice — it happens only when you tap Share, and we receive nothing.

No tracking, ads, or third parties

The App contains no advertising, no analytics, no tracking technologies, and no data-collecting third-party SDKs. We do not use cookies, advertising identifiers, or any behavioral profiling. We do not share, sell, or disclose any data — because we do not collect any.

Works fully offline

Every feature of the App — barcode recognition, validity checks, country-of-registration lookup, and scan history — works without an internet connection. The App itself does not send any data over the network.

Two deliberate exceptions are under your control. When a scanned QR code contains a link, the App shows an “Open in browser” button; tapping it opens the link in your device’s browser, outside the App. And the Share button hands a scan to another app of your choosing. Both happen only when you tap them, and we receive no information about either.

Future online features

A future version of the App may offer an optional online product lookup — for example, fetching a product’s name from a public database for a barcode you scanned. If such a feature is added, requests will go directly from your device to the public database, the feature will remain optional, and this policy will be updated before the feature is released.

Children’s privacy

The App is not directed at children, and because it collects no personal information at all, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children or anyone else.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change how the App handles information, we will update this page and revise the “Last updated” date above. Meaningful changes will be reflected here before they take effect in the App.
